London Borough of Brent is seeking talented artists based in Brent to submit designs for an exciting and vibrant floor mural project that will transform the newly created focal point at One Tree Hill open space. This unique opportunity invites artists to create a colourful design that celebrates and reflects the rich history of the area and community while bringing life and energy to One Tree Hill open space.
Project Details
- Location: One Tree Hill open space, newly created focal point at the top of the hill
- Medium: Floor mural to be painted on tarmac surface
- Dimensions: 3 metres in diameter (circular design)
- Shape: Shape: Ring shaped design that surrounds a tree with its planting bed
- Viewing Experience: The artwork will be experienced by visitors walking across and around it, as well as viewing it from various angles
- Theme: Local History and Community Heritage
- Commission Fee: £5,000 (inclusive of materials and artist time)
Design Requirements
- Designs must be original and specifically created for this space
- Artwork should incorporate elements of local history and community heritage
- The design should feature bold, vibrant colours that will create visual impact
- Colour choices should consider longevity and resistance to fading in outdoor conditions
- The mural will be surrounded by landscaped
- Proposals should consider the unique perspective of the floor level installation
- Designs must be weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor installation
- Consideration should be given to slip resistance and public safety

Submission Guidelines
Artists should submit:
- High resolution image
- Artist statement (max 500 words) explaining the concept and its connection to local history
- Technical specifications including proposed materials and installation method
- Two examples of previous work
- Budget breakdown within the £5,000 allocation
Selection Process
- All submissions will be reviewed by a community panel
- Finalists may be asked to present their concepts to the panel
- The winning design will be announced on 30th of April 2025
- Installation to commence following the announcement
